Paradise on stilts in the Maldives

One & amp; Only Reethi Rah Resort, surrounded by the crystal clear waters of the Indian Ocean, located on one of the largest in North Male Atoll Islands , in Maldives designed by Jean-Michel Gathy, Director of Design at Denniston International Architects. Lives up to its name Reethi Rah , meaning "Beautiful Island" in Dhivehi language. The design of outdoor spaces surrounding each of the 128 villas, always keeping in mind three emblematic words: luxury, space and privacy.
Supreme  and  private luxury amid nature’s tropical magic of the Maldives. There is a place in a far blue ocean of wonderful beauty. Generous exterior spaces range from beach verandas to private swimming pools and large over-water decks.
The villas at One &Only Reethi Rah are among the most luxurious and more spacious than we can find in the Indian Ocean, leading to new heights of luxury with a perfect illustration of the idea that one can be a refined island of great prestige.
Guests are offered a wide choice of villas: 77 Villas "Beach", each occupying about 135 m2 of space, with large verandas and outdoor showers (37 have their own private infinity pool of 23 m2 and 1.2 m deep).

  • 30 Villas "Water" with half level verandas and large hammocks
suspended over the ocean, for moments of relaxation above water (6 of them have their own private infinity pool of 30 m2 and 1.2 m deep).

6 Villas "Duplex" all with private infinity pool (23 m2 and 1.2 m deep), out of a total of 12 villas.

  • 5 Villas "Grand Beach", with two bedrooms and private infinity pool (50 m2 and 1.2 m deep)

  • 2 Villas "Great Water" with a bedroom and a private infinity pool (13 m2 and 1.2 m deep)

  • 2 Residences "Great Sunset" with three bedrooms and private infinity pool
     (50 m2 and 1.2 m deep)
Each villa, it is located on a private beach or suspended above the Indian Ocean waters, is a private sanctuary, completely autonomous, situated in a lush landscape adorned with terraces and wooden verandas Balan straight from the Malaysian part of Borneo. Each is separated by dense vegetation to allow guests to enjoy complete privacy. With this type of landscaping very particular, and the exceptional amount of space between each of the buildings, the neighboring villas are virtually invisible to each other.

The roof of each villa was, as tradition dictates, developed by a local craftsman, from young coconut leaves. The outdoor wood frame and siding were made of wood Kapur Malaysia. Inside, the villas are pleasant living spaces and is extremely elegant. Jean-Michel Gathy said about it: "I wanted these rooms are made with simplicity in architectural terms, so as to create a natural environment made up of sand and vegetation. I wanted he could
blend into the ambiance of the island. But I wanted to simultaneously create a dramatic interior space, in order to create a breathtaking sense of space, height and elegance. "

Inside the villas, comfort harmoniously marries the particular care that we brought to the style on the design of the plan. The decor is heavily influenced by the Asian style with use of vibrant colors and intense tones, which were associated with tropical materials and natural textures: teak, rattan, mahogany, coconut and silk. The floor is polished granite, inlaid with Indonesian teak.

The large bathrooms each have two sinks furniture and an imposing granite bath very large, custom-made. The bathtubs are carefully placed near the window, giving you a breathtaking view of the Indian Ocean. The bathrooms are also equipped with walk-in showers, which offer a choice between shower "rain" or massage shower.

SHOELACES as an interior element!

30,000 red shoelaces hang from the ceiling of Melbourne's Camper store

Camper store by Atelier Marko Brajovic Melbourne Australia
Brazilian architect Marko Brajovic has fixed thousands of bright red shoelaces to the undulating ceiling of this Camper footwear shop in Melbourne. São Paulo-based Atelier Marko Brajovic created the store interior as part of Camper Together – an ongoing project by Spanish shoe brand Camper that invites architects and designers to create unique products and store interiors.

Behind the stark white and glazed frontage of the shop on Lonsdale Street in Melbourne, 30,000 red shoelaces were attached to a false ceiling to create a series of varying curves and dips.
According to the architect, the design was intended to reference the brightly coloured fringing often used to decorate Brazilian carnival floats and costumes. "We looked towards the festivities found in traditional Brazilian folklore," studio founder Marko Brajovic told Dezeen. "The environments and spaces involved in these festivities were created using dense layers of coloured stripes."

The studio was asked to overhaul several stores for Camper using the same concept. To individualise each installation, they created different ceiling shapes based on local weather phenomena. For a shop in Brazil they created a wave-shaped ceiling, while in the Melbourne store the studio made use of parametric 3D modelling software – used to produce curved shapes in architecture – to convert a satellite image of a cyclone into an undulating form. This shape was recreated in the store by tying laces of different lengths to a mesh base, attached to the concrete beam structure of the ceiling.

"We were asked to design a concept store that could be adapted in several locations, maintaining always a coherence," explained Brajovic. "So our concept was creating a 'think global, act local' project." "I researched a lot about natural phenomena in Australia and one image that came to me very strongly was a satellite image of a cyclone," he explained. The tip of each lace was attached to the mesh with a cable-tie, while the ends were left to dangle freely. Pendant lights with white bell-shaped shades were integrated into the design, poking through the fringing to illuminate the shop display.

Behind a shiny red counter at the back of the shop, a row of long laces was suspended from the ceiling to the floor, functioning like a curtain into the stockroom. Long white shelves were added around the edge of the shop floor to display shoes and boots, while benches with reflective sides and light-grey upholstered seats were built into angular mirrored arches in the centre of the space.

Space under the stairs

Lots of space under the stairs...

We can give many uses to the dead spaces that we have under the stairs of our homes, ideas and decorating tricks is to add shelves and into a storage space, but ... someone has ever thought of using that space as desk, transform in our small office; or to make the guest room, installing a comfortable bed.

Everything depends on the design of our stairs and its location in our house, but I hope that with this article all rethink a new way to exploit the space available under our stairs.

IDEAS FOR OUR STAIRS CORRIDORS

If the staircase of our house is in the hall of our house, or located in a corridor where a busy traffic there, it would be a good area to use it as storage objects at hand have to have, even bicycles if we are sports fans. Another concept would use this space to give a special touch to our home decor.

IDEAS FOR THE STAIRS OF ROOM

If the stairs are located in our lounge, surely be a more elegant staircase and will have more space and ideas to seize them. We will use this space to integrate with the rest of the decor of our room and we can turn it into an elegant library, in our perfect reading corner, in a practical bottle or add storage in our living room.

IDEAS TO CONVERT THE AREA UNDER THE STAIRS IN OUR KITCHEN

As in the previous case, if we have little usable space in our home, to win these precious meters and use them to transform them into a very functional kitchen. This is an extreme solution and I can only recommend it when there is not a better solution to locate the main kitchen of our house, however it may be the ideal solution for a kitchen support in our warehouse or if we have a room designated for parties to our friends.

IDEAS TO CONVERT THE AREA UNDER THE STAIRS ON A BED FOR GUESTS
