Located in the gardens of the former tobacco factory in Alicante, a huge cicada 250 square meters (25 meters long by 10 meters wide) serves as a kiosk-bar and restaurant inside the 800-meter outer space The Cigar culture. The innovative project has been developed Amat Study of Architecture Thomas, Paul Thomas Belda + Amat after the commissioning of the administration to provide the complex services a space permanently.

The structure is divided into three areas of applications represented by each animal parts: head, body and tail. The architects have designed the set with an innovative and attractive combination of materials that serves as a differentiating element of each of the spaces.

The construction, which is designed for the city and to create a new meeting and communication in the area and refers to the old name space linking it to the place, nature and current use. It is literally an insect perched on a garden.

The Cicada has the ability to adapt its size to the specific needs and through a telescopic development is able to pass from an interior space of 74 square meters to 127 square meters In addition, the structure consists of three main parts:. Head, body and tail. Each form is understood autonomously but forming a homogeneous whole. The design process, materiality, geometry, functionality and uses of each of these three parts of the insect, catering to different uses to which has shaped and the diverse needs of the order.

• Head. A fixed structure containing technical spaces and warehouse kitchen, bar and cold storage product and customer service area, 75m2.
• The body. A space for living spaces of winter, 65m2.
• The queue. Element composed of wooden braces arranged along a main dogas that bind, as a free skin that can embrace the body and head fall back. The wood tissue adapts garden space bounded to a place for the summer. 45m2

The scheme is based on a metal structure that can be seen perfectly in the simulation of the gills.It is in the "head" of the animal, of 75 square meters where the technical area of the building is.Kitchen and store, bar and cold storage product and customer service area are not incompatible with the criteria of beauty and functionality.

Finally, the "tail" of the animal is a big piece of wood crochet designed by architects and built by the artist Manolo Garcia 45 meters, which brings us to the geographical area in which the cicada lives. Noble material parts are arranged along a main dogas that bind. The architects have designed a fabric and a free skin that can embrace the body and head fall back on adapting the garden space bounded to a place for the summer.

The center of the facility reflects the "body" of the cicada, where he has designed a space for living spaces in winter and 65 square meters.
